The Olympics Games Essay
The Olympics Games have been around for thousands of years and have changed. Today the Olympics have various events and competitions that have changed over the years to meet the standards of entertainment in the majority of the population today. This has been happening to the Olympics games because they have recently invented sports that have grown in popularity and because there is a growing in interest of the winter Olympic Game, snowboarding.
First, the Olympic Games have been added and eliminated since the time of the first Olympics. The Olympic Games started in the year 776 B.C. in Greece with the only game being the 200 yard dash then, in the year 708 B.C. they started adding what is considered more modern activities such as wrestling, leaping, and jumping (Nostos). Later in the history of the Olympic Games, they started adding the most recent sports and events, some examples are, in the year 1920 they added Ice Hockey and in the year 1936 the game of Basketball is added to the Olympic Games (Infoplease). As the Olympic Games grow older, the more people and events they have, in the year 1896 there was 14 countries and 43 events and in the year1908 there was more than 2,000 competitors and 100 events (Infoplease). The Olympic Games have changed from what is considered as “ancient” games to the most recent games that are widely played.
One of reasons the Olympics are so popular is because of snowboarding and its constant need to “step it up” and every year have more talent and ability to “wow” the audience. The sport of snowboarding was added to the Olympic Games in the year 1960 and it is a creative combination of two very popular sports skateboarding and skiing, to many people the combination of the two sports into one was a way to keep up the demand for entertainment (Pocanticohills). The Olympic Game snowboarding is usually either the half-pipe or the giant parallel slalom to get the audience excited with the extreme event about to happen (Pocanticohills). The Olympic game was revolutionized by a man named Shaun White who in the past years has won numerous awards including several gold medals in multiple countries (Sports. Yahoo). The sport of Snowboarding is very popular and the boarder Shaun White seems that every time he competes he does something better than the last time which has won him many medals.
The Olympics have been changing since it was made because of the demand for talent. Snowboarding has made it so that people like Shaun White can impress and give the population what they want “Talent.” The Olympics are always changing and are going to change foreve
